We’re Lyn and Rod of Christchurch, New Zealand, owners and hosts of Southern View Motorhomes.
We’re at an age where we’re too young to retire but we have moved on from the 9 to 5 lifestyle and enjoy travelling and meeting new people. Rod used to be a Pom but lives and loves downunder. Me (Lyn) – I’ve been a kiwi girl for a long time. We’re both musically inclined and love a good sing-along with friends and family in gatherings, performance or at home. I also love to cook, and enjoy providing delicious food that meets what people prefer, from traditional cooking to asian food, vegetarian and gluten-free. It’s part of the quiet hospitality that makes friends feel welcome, rather than just being told they are.
Over the years, we’ve gained experience in the areas of real estate, the food industry, driving and maintenance. Because of this we’ve developed skills in administration, home and equipment maintenance, catering and entertaining. In 2007 we decided to combine business with pleasure, blending these skills with our passion for motorhomes. The personal service we offer will give you a great start to your New Zealand adventure!
When we started the business, the question we asked ourselves was “How would you like to be treated by your Motorhome company?” Being Motorhome enthusiasts ourselves we know the sorts of things that make all the difference in turning a holiday into a great experience – the sort of thing you tell your friends back home about next time you’re camped out together – that they enjoy hearing!
Travelling in our own motorhome, we get to see and do some amazing things, and we’ve made many new friends. Picked up at the airport? No problem, even for the 11:00pm flight. Breakfast before you head off in the morning? Our pleasure. You want to hire some musical instruments to take with you? We can help there too, but don’t recommend taking the piano (guitar/keyboard can be booked as available).
If you are looking for advice or ideas we’re also happy to help. We’ve traveled all over the South Island and through most of the North Island and can give you first-hand advice on where to go, how to get there, and a few “must-sees” that you’ll remember for a long time. All of our motorhomes come with Maps of the South Island and of major cities. We can tell you the places other people in motorhomes like to camp, and point you to things you might take many visits to find.
Our vans sleep 2 or 4 comfortably, and are fully fitted out with kitchen equipment, bedding; all you need are your personal possessions. We also provide a welcome package of juice and snacks to see you on your way, knowing that sometimes you don’t want to stop at the first shop you see.
